Hot cross  buns  are marked with a cross  sign  and  it's  eaten  by  Saxons  to  honor  the  goddess.  Many  of  them  believed  that  the  bun  is  mentioned  as  the moon  and  the  cross  as  moon’s  quarters.  For  the  Christians  the  cross  is  mentioned  as  the crucifixion  of  Jesus  and  it  is  eaten  warm  with  butter  on  good  Friday  day.  The  Simnel  cake  is  celebrated  at  the end  of  lent  which  is  a  40  day  period  which comes  before  the  easter.  At  this  time  of  lent   most  of  the  people  take  fasting.  During this  period, people will  eat  only  seasonal  foods.  The  Simnel  cake  is  having  fruits  and  having  spices  and  marzipan.  Earlier  the  simnel cake  is  given  on  the  mother’s  day  where  girls  are  given  off  for  visiting  their  mothers  and  now  it  is  celebrated  as  easter.
